Over 300 people attended the evening Advent candlelight service held in Wimborne Minster on Advent Sunday 30 November.
The singing was led by the Minster Choir conducted by the Director of Music Mr David Gostick, with organist Sean Tucker.
Four Minster servers Michael Sharpe, Christine Feltham, Barbara Sharpe and Kevin Martin assisted in the Service.
The four readings were read by Hannah Ryan, mother of one of the choristers, Stephanie Shimmons, Sunday School leader, Alison Francis, former churchwarden and Peter Cook, secretary of the Friends of the Minster
The service followed the format of previous years and was conducted by the Rector, The Reverend Canon Vanessa Herrick who, after welcoming everyone to this special service, opened it with the ‘Blessing of the light’ and then the lighting of the congregation’s candles throughout the Minster. The service continued with the procession and singing of Advent hymns and anthems.
A retiring collection was taken in aid of ‘CRISIS’ the Charity providing food and shelter for the homeless over the Christmas period. It raised almost £600.
