A year 8 pupil at Allenbourn Middle School was recently awarded £100 worth of Halfords vouchers because of the improvement she has made in her cycling. Lorna Welton from Wimborne admits she was “pretty wobbly” before she started the course, but made such good progress that she received the prize for being one of the most improved riders in Dorset.
Bikeability teaches ‘cycling proficiency for the 21st century’, designed to give the next generation the skills and confidence to ride their bikes on today’s roads.
Lorna’s course was based at Ferndown Leisure Centre, and she passed both her level 2 and 3 tests with flying colours, having done one test in the pouring rain. “It’s made me much more confident,” she said, “and I’m hoping to cycle to school once the weather improves.”
