ODEON Dorchester offers Autism Friendly Screenings of the latest releases each month on selected Sunday mornings throughout the year.
They take place at 11.30am on chosen Sundays at over 90 ODEON cinemas throughout the UK and Ireland. ODEON has partnered with the not-for-profit organisation, Dimensions in order to offer these special screenings.
Subtle changes are made to the environment of the cinema to create a more positive experience for those with sensory difficulties such as a low level of lighting, lower sound levels, no advertising or trailers, and allowance for increased noise levels and movement.
Alan Escott, general manager at the ODEON Dorchester, said: “We understand how stressful visiting the cinema can be for parents of children with attention and sensory issues, being able to provide these screenings each month is absolutely invaluable.
“Going to a standard performance of a film can be a challenge for guests with sensory and learning disabilities. We hope that these Autism Friendly Screenings will help guests feel more comfortable in a cinema environment.”
A full list of screenings can be found online by selecting the ‘Autism Friendly Screenings’ or by contacting the Disability and Accessibility Helpline on 0800 138 3315.
ODEON Dorchester is situated within the Brewery Square development and tickets start from £3 with family tickets available.
