Sportsmen and women who’ve made their mark in Poole during the last year can now be nominated for the 2016 Sports Awards.
Borough of Poole and Poole Sports Council would like people to nominate those achieving individual or team success in sport for one of the following awards:
Certificates of Commendation – recognises any outstanding sporting achievements over the last year. It can be for an individual or a team, provided they are a Poole resident or are a member of a Poole-based club or school. Nominations can be made by members of the public, sports clubs, sports coaches, leisure centres and schools, and can be for any age.
The Freddie Rowe Award – recognises any outstanding sporting performance or contribution, such as world or national success, or for dedication or long service to a club or sport, such as a coach, club secretary or volunteer.
Over the last few years the awards have highlighted just how much sporting talent there is in Poole and this year it is set to be no different, particularly with the Rio Olympics inspiring young athletes. To make a nomination, please visit poole.gov.uk/sportscouncil. The closing date is 15 July 2016.
There will be a short period of assessment and the Mayor of Poole will present the awards on Wednesday 21 September at Magna Academy Poole.
The awards are being sponsored by Borough of Poole’s leisure partners, Everyone Active Leisure Centres.
