A giant beanstalk growing competition between three classes at Ringwood Infant School were congratulated for becoming prize winners. Haskins Garden Centres’ Joolz Walford and Dave Brown first judged on the highest beanstalk in each class, and then chose their favourite decorated pot. The winners of each category received a certificate, a garden trowel and growing kits.
The winners grew beans over 90 centimetres. Dave Brown said that he was impressed with the height: “They did very well. The best decorated pot competition was very difficult to judge due to the variety of design and artwork – there were some great ideas. We also had some fantastic questions about horticulture in some question and answer sessions after the judging.”
Head Teacher Hilary Silk thanked the Haskins team for sponsoring and judging the competition: “It has been a fun topic in our science learning. We were impressed that the pupils took great care over their bean shoots at home during the Easter holiday.”
