Two bikes were stolen in a burglary in Winston Avenue in Poole.
Between 11.30pm on Thursday 14 January and 9.30am on Friday 15 January, thieves gained access to a shed at the property by tipping it on its side and ripping off the roof.
Three high-value bikes, which were locked together and attached to a work bench, were stolen.
One of the bikes has since been recovered. Officers are still trying to trace the remaining two bikes.
The first is described as a medium-sized black Cannondale Bad Boy hybrid bike which has red handle bar grips and clip-in pedals.
The second is a custom-built white Commencal Meta 55 full suspension bike with green graphics. It has very distinctive bright yellow handlebars and very large gold disk brakes.
Police Sergeant Adrian Thompson, of Poole police, said: “I am appealing to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the Winston Avenue area between the relevant times to please call me on 101.
“I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who has bought second-hand bikes similar to those stolen recently or has seen them offered for sale.”
