Lewis-Manning Hospice is urgently looking for volunteers to help in its shop in Blandford.
The Poole-based community charity, which offers free specialist palliative nursing care to around 650 people a year in Dorset living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, is looking for people who can give up a bit of their time to help manager Debra.
Paul Tucker, Marketing and Communications Officer at Lewis-Manning, said, “The hospice and its shops could not function without its network of volunteers and their extraordinary commitment. We are always looking for more people but we would especially welcome people who could help out in Blandford at the moment. Our shop volunteers have great fun whilst helping customers find what they need and helping us to get the best price for the goods generously donated.
Volunteering has many benefits too – it looks great on a CV, it puts something back into the community, it builds a new circle of friends and it can help keep you active and healthy.”
Volunteering is open to all ages, from school leavers to retired people, and is an ideal way to meet new people, gain confidence and new skills out in the community, as well as enjoy being a valued member of a team. It is also a perfect way to help boost university and college applications, improve CV’s, or simply make valuable use of time between jobs or when the children have left home.
