A man has been sentenced to three years’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to burglary in Bournemouth.
Harmesh Toora, 37, of no fixed abode, broke into premises along Wimborne Road and stole a laptop and an iPad on 18 February 2013 at 11.20am.
The court heard how a neighbour from an adjacent flat heard the sound of breaking glass and contacted the police. Officers arrested Toora in possession of the stolen items. He pleaded guilty to the offence at Bournemouth Crown Court on 28 February 2013.
On the same day he was sentenced to 32 months’ imprisonment for burglary and four months for other offences – a total sentence of 36 months.

“Thanks to the vigilance and prompt action of the neighbour, police were swiftly able to attend and arrest the offender.

“This sentence handed down in this case illustrates how seriously these types of offences are viewed by Dorset Police and the courts.”
