Residents and visitors to Boscombe have shown their artistic flair to stunning effect as reflected in the entries for this year’s 2015 Boscombe Regeneration Partnership calendar competition.
Paintings, drawings and photos were submitted by amateur artists illustrating the theme of a ‘Celebration of Boscombe.’ The overall winner of this year’s competition was Judith Shires who paints under her maiden name of Judith Rowe. Her prize is a £100 worth of high street vouchers.
Judith said: “I love Boscombe and it has given me great pleasure to contribute in this way to its regeneration. I have lived in the area for 37 years and worked for 24 years at a solicitors on the corner of Sea Road until its closure last year. I have sold and exhibited my paintings in the past in the Royal Arcade art shops.”
Councillor Jane Kelly, Cabinet Member for Partnerships and Regeneration, said: “Congratulations to the winner and a big thank you to all those artists who entered the competition, once again highlighting the fact that Boscombe is home to a diverse and talented artistic community. The competition helps to positively raise the profile of Boscombe and the exciting regeneration work that is taking place to improve the area.”
The calendar will be available from Boscombe Library from Tuesday 23 December.
