A record number of candidates will be standing in the forthcoming local council elections in Poole.
A total of 173 candidates will contest 42 seats across 16 wards representing a number of political parties and also independents.
The number of candidates for the local elections are:
* 42 Green
* 41 Conservative
* 31 Liberal Democrat
* 25 UK Independence Party
* 19 Labour
* 11 Poole People
* 3 Independent
* 1 MFP
The election takes place on Thursday 7 May 2015 alongside the national General Election.
Seven candidates will contest the Poole parliamentary constituency and five candidates are standing for election in the Mid-Dorset and North Poole constituency.
