Becoming £1,000 better off overnight is something to celebrate with gusto, and indeed this was the case when our latest winner, Mr J M Womersley, received the news that he’d won the monthly CashUnity draw.
But as he is in the privileged position of owning The Three Lions at Stuckton, Mike, as he is known, decided to do something really beneficial within the community with his winnings.
When he heard he was the February winner he said, “I’d forgotten I’d entered, so it took a while for the news to sink in. Then, on reflection, when I talked to my wife Jayne about it, we decided to donate 75% of the money to charities in Dorset and Hampshire and the remainder to a local dance school.”
Mike is a revered chef who earned a Michelin star for a well-known Bath restaurant a while back; he is also Hiker’s co-presenter on Forest FM’s Saturday Bash and goes under the alias Michelin Mike (now you know why). You are sure to be hearing more about his win on the upcoming Saturday Bash so tune in to 92.3 between 9am and noon this Saturday 15 March.
Mike’s not a complete stranger when it comes to winning big prizes and once received a fabulous coffee making machine worth around £3,500 after entering a prize draw when he first set up in business.
So where did Mike enter CashUnity?
“At Caxtons,” he says. “We do all our decoration and maintenance in house and have used them for 19 years.”
Jackie Lockyer and Malcolm Adams who own Caxton Décor in Fordingbridge have been promoting the scheme vigorously. Jackie said, “We are pleased to be involved with CashUnity and to be able to give our customers the opportunity to win £1,000.”
Keep shopping with your local CashUnity businesses. You have until 5 April 2014 to submit your entries for purchases made in CashUnity stores in March. The next winner could be you!
But for the meantime, congratulations to Mike Womersley on his windfall.
