A recent charity dinner dance hosted by the Progressive Property Network Bournemouth raised nearly £4,000 for Lewis-Manning Hospice in Poole, which is due to open its end-of-life care bedrooms later this year.
The Lilliput hospice only receives approximately 20% of its funding via its contract with NHS Dorset CCG, which means the remaining amount has to be raised through community fundraising initiatives and its shops, and these costs will more than double with the introduction of overnight care.
The event, which was sponsored by Newstead Estate & Letting Agents and attracted over 130 people, was organised by Leigh Ashbee who spearheads the Progressive Property Networking events in Bournemouth.
The black tie event included a drinks reception, three course dinner and a DJ, plus a charity auction and raffle. Chris Manning provided live entertainment performing as Michael Bublé with The Bublétte Dancers.
Maria Tidy, Lewis-Manning Hospice’s Fundraising Manager, said: “Leigh and the Progressive Property Network have been great supporters of the hospice for a number of years and, once again, Leigh has pulled off another fabulous event raising an incredible sum of money for the hospice.
With our bedrooms opening later this year we will be able to provide unique end-of-life care where carers and families, with nursing support, can be with their loved ones at all times and have the use of dedicated family rooms for overnight stays.”
