Charlton Down Cricket Club have received the Dorset Funeral Plan Team of the Month award after securing promotion.
Charlton Down Cricket Club have received the Dorset Funeral Plan Team of the Month award for July after securing promotion from Division Three.
They were unbeaten throughout the month – a winning streak that continued, enabling them to be crowned champions after 13 straight victories. The team remains the only unbeaten one in all Dorset weekend cricket.
Skipper Tommy Tucker was presented with a trophy and bottle of bubbly by Peter Douch from the sponsor, the Dorset Funeral Plan.
Tommy said, “We’ve had a settled squad of about 14 players and a bulging youth section not only filling in, but also performing and waiting in the wings to replace me.
“We’ve all chipped in with the bat and ball but special mention should be given to Matt and Dan Stevens for their bowling displays.
“We’re lucky as many committee members give up a lot of time to help run our club and to coach the young up-and-coming cricketers.”
Peter Douch added, “Charlton Down have done superbly this season and over the previous few seasons and deserve the award for their performances in July.”
