It was labelled ‘cringe-worthy’ by many, but after racking up more than 126,000 YouTube views and receiving a wave of positive feedback from customers, the Condor Ferries safety rap continues to entertain the masses.
Launched in March to communicate its new brand ethos of ‘Good Times’, Condor devised the rap to ensure every part of the customer’s journey is as fun and enjoyable as the rest of their holiday – and the onboard safety message is no exception. So instead of a sombre cabin crew pointing towards exit doors, Condor Ferries created a rap video, featuring a silky smooth captain, a sassy stewardess, and a street-wise steward.
As well as being fun and catchy, the rhymes also help passengers to remember the instructions, making it clearer, and more helpful than traditional safety announcements. The video is broadcast on all sailings of Condor Ferries passenger fleet, including fast ferries’ Condor Liberation and Condor Rapide, and the conventional Commodore Clipper.
Justin Amey, Head of Marketing at Condor Ferries, said: “Our new safety video certainly made an impact when we launched it earlier this year. We wanted something fun and a little bit different that our passengers would sit up and take notice of, and the safety rap does just that. Although it can have a bit of a marmite affect, it continues to entertain our customers onboard, as well as those watching it online. We hope the Condor Ferries safety rap continues to spread good times with our passengers throughout 2016.”
