Local girl Imogen Hames from Ferndown Ju-Jitsu Club was awarded the ‘Instructor of the Month’ at the Heatherlands Centre on Sunday and is seen here holding her trophy.
Imogen is the first Ferndown student to receive the new award and had to take a qualification to become a junior club assistant instructor. The course requirements for the qualification stipulate that the student has to be over 12, hold an orange belt and a first aid certificate.
Imogen holds a purple belt and will be grading for her light blue on 26 May. She helps out in the Mini Jitsu lessons and gives teaching assessments within the main group.
