“The auction of the items entered by vendors from the BBC Flog It! valuation day at Highcliffe Castle was extremely successful,” said auctioneer John Condie from Cottees.
Stars of the show were a small selection of ten film posters which included a rare ‘Dracula’ poster that sold for £5,500 and a Star Wars poster that sold for £420. Together with the other eight posters sold, a grand total of £8,860 was realised. These were just some of 113 posters that a gentleman from Bournemouth who had been collecting since the 1970s had taken along to the valuation. The remainder will be sold at Cottees in a special auction later in the year.
Other items sold which will appear on the TV programme were a gold box with blue cabuchon stone set lid for £1,650, a Biba coat for £120 and a Chinese silver bowl for £1,000.
Cottees hold our own valuation days every day of the week (except auction days) and also have specialist valuation days, our next being 17 July for pens, watches and coins and on 14 August for dolls and collectable toys such as Dinky, TV related, tinplate and puppets.
