Deadline approaches for Dorset school place applications
Parents and carers in Dorset need to apply by 15 January for primary, infant, junior or middle schools places.
Time is running for parents and carers who want to secure places for their children at a particular school this coming September.
Applications for primary, infant, junior and middle schools need to be received by 15 January to have the best chance of securing a place at your child’s preferred school. If the deadline is missed, Dorset Council will not be able to consider your application until later in the year, by which time the school may have been filled.
The admissions pages on the council’s website will give you all the information you need to apply. You can check out our parents’ guide for information about the different types of schools and how to apply to each one.
Cllr Andrew Parry, Dorset Council portfolio holder for Children, Education and Early Help, said: “If your child is starting school for the first time this September, or is due to start junior or middle school for the first time, then you need to submit your school application now.
“Please don’t risk disappointment by leaving it too late. Apply now to have the best chance of securing your child’s preferred school.”
If you’re not able to apply online, you can download a word document from the admissions pages or contact the school admissions team on 01305 221060 or email: admissions@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk
