The Friends of the Priest’s House Museum are hosting a talk on ‘Wimborne Heroes’ given by the Wimborne U3A History Group on Thursday 28 January at 7.30pm. It is being held in the Hilda Coles Open Learning Centre at the Priest’s House Museum and Garden in Wimborne Minster.
Wimborne U3A History Group has researched on the subject ‘Seeing the Past: a history of the Wimborne district in 100 objects’ for over a year. They have produced talks on five subjects. ‘Wimborne Heroes’ is the story of people who were born in or near Wimborne or lived hereabouts. They include soldiers, scholars, businessmen, religious leaders, writers and politicians. Well known names include the Castleman family, Isaac Gulliver and Anthony Ettrick, ‘the man in the wall’. Some are more famous abroad than in England.
