#GivingTuesday takes place on 27 November and Bournemouth Parks Foundation are hoping to raise £3,000 in one day to reach halfway towards their £200,000 fundraising target to rebuild Bournemouth’s aviary.

The aviary, located in Bournemouth’s lower gardens, is a sanctuary for tropical birds. The bird’s home needs rebuilding to provide a safer environment as it was vandalised earlier this year leading to several birds escaping.
The renovation would create more flight space for the birds and a 360-degree viewing experience.
#GivingTuesday is a charitable marketing campaign that aims to get people involved in supporting local charities on one day of the year, Tuesday 27 November.
Cathi Farrer, foundation manager at Bournemouth Parks Foundation said, “#GivingTuesday is a great international initiative which encourages people to donate on a certain day of the year. We’ve just had Black Friday, so it would be brilliant if people could now donate to a local cause.”
We’re hoping that our supporters get behind us today to help us reach our halfway goal of £100,000 to rebuild Bournemouth’s aviary. The aviary is completely run by volunteers and donations and is a great example of a community-based project, benefitting both the birds, local residents and visitors to the area.”
Hannah Cumming, one of the aviary’s volunteers said, “The birds are all homeless rescue birds and the aviary gives them a better life.”
You can donate £3 on #GivingTuesday to rebuild the aviary by texting ‘Aviary’ to 70003 or visiting bournemouthparksfoundation.org.uk
