With many people going away for the bank holiday weekend, officers are urging residents to make sure they leave their homes securely locked with no valuables on display.
Detective Inspector Richard Dixey, of the Priority Crime Team, said: “If you’re going away for Easter, or even if you’re just going out for the day, please leave your property secure.
“I would encourage residents to make sure they keep their windows and doors locked.
“Also, don’t leave valuable items like jewellery or cash on display in your home.
“Don’t let burglars ruin your Easter weekend.”
Officers are also encouraging the public to be vigilant against burglars and to contact Dorset Police if they see anything suspicious.
Detective Inspector Dixey continued: “I would like to urge people to keep their eyes peeled for anyone acting suspiciously in their area.
“If you see something suspicious, or if you think a burglary is taking place, please call the police immediately.”
