Nina Dyer from Dorset Rescue Dogs, along with two colleagues and their spaniels, Rhea and Nyx, gave a talk at Colehill WI this month. They spoke about the extensive and expensive training they do with their dogs, which is voluntary and unpaid. They have about 50 call outs a year working in Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire and at times as far as Surrey and Sussex. The rescue dogs are trained to have fun whilst searching and were enthusiastically looking for the signal that they might be off on call. There were many questions following what was a humorous and informative presentation.
Next meeting is on 10 September when Paula Barker will be ‘taking’ the WI on her travels. Visitors are always welcome.
