The Chairman of East Dorset District Council, Cllr Robin Cook, is looking for an unsung hero for a new award being launched in East Dorset.
Cllr Cook is launching the Community Volunteer Award to recognise one special person during his year of office.
The person nominated has to be a resident of East Dorset, but the organisation they volunteer for can be either local or national.
The winner will receive a shield to hold for a year and a cash prize.
The deadline for nominations is 31 March and a decision will be made in mid-April.
The award ceremony will take place during the annual council meeting at 6.30pm on 18 May.
Cllr Cook said: “Having met so many people during my civic year who give their time freely to help others has meant a lot to me, and this is a way of giving them recognition. I hope that the award will become an annual tradition by subsequent Chairmen.”
