Five teenagers from Ferndown Jitsu Club have been granted bursaries of £250 each from the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation.
Sensei Liam Read, Jordan Lee, Connor Riley and brothers Joe and Matt Trussell, who all go to Ferndown Upper School, will now be able to attend the Jitsu Foundation Ju-Jitsu International Competition that will be held in Edinburgh in July this year.
Chairman of the club, John Hanrahan said, “Pete and Linda Thornton came along to watch a Ju-Jitsu display by Ferndown Jitsu Club on Wednesday, 30 January at the Heatherlands Centre, to meet, chat and have a photo with the lads. The club would like to say a big thank you to Ferndown Upper School and Pete and Linda Thornton from the foundation, as this will be a chance of a lifetime opportunity made into a reality.”
