Ferndown Middle School has said a sad farewell to a much cherished and dedicated Chairman of Governors. Mr Mike Downton. He has retired after almost 18 years of tirelessly volunteering at Ferndown Middle School. Fondly known by the pupils as ‘Mars Bar Mike’ for his never-ending supply of Mars bar awards, he has diligently supported the school; by helping to run residential trips, contributing to the FMSA and inspiring pupils to better themselves through pupil voice conferences and the running of the school council.
Gill Allen, Headteacher said, “Mike has done far above what you would expect from a governor, volunteer and helper and he will be greatly missed by all.”
