A special evening complete with a fashion show with a gardening theme has raised £1200 for the Alzheimer’s Society. The event was organised and hosted by the Haskins Garden Centre at Longham, Ferndown as part of the centres’ 20th anniversary celebrations.
Over 200 people enjoyed watching dancers and models on the catwalk where the latest new ranges of indoor and outdoor clothing were displayed and offered at an exclusive discount. All proceeds from the £5 entry fee will go to support the Alzheimer’s Society, who had local representatives attending during the evening to answer questions on the support offered for dementia sufferers and their families.
Simon Morris, General Manager at the centre, said that he appreciated the support from everyone involved, including the generous promotion offered by regional media.
The next event for the Alzheimer’s Society is to be held at the centre on Wednesday 21 May when an Alice In Wonderland themed tea party will be held to mark Dementia Awareness week and support staff will provide advice and information on the common condition that affects about 800,000 people in the UK.
