Fashionistas from the Verwood Women’s Institute organised a stylish fashion show in memory of a much loved member and raised funds for the new Jigsaw Building at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
The event saw over 130 people flock to the Verwood Memorial Hall to see clothes from ladies fashion company ‘Travelling Friends’ modelled by friends and members of the WI.
In true WI style, batches of cookies were baked for the evening and a raffle was held, adding to the fantastic grand total of £950.
The funds will go to the Bournemouth Hospital Charity Jigsaw Appeal, for the new Jigsaw Building. Construction work has begun on the building which will house a new women’s health unit and a blood disorders unit.
Verwood WI President, Jan Parish, said: “We arranged this sociable evening to raise money in memory of a much loved friend and member, Grace Copper, who touched so many lives of ladies in Verwood and indeed within the Dorset Federation of WIs.
“This truly was a team effort. So many people worked hard behind the scenes to make this such an enjoyable and successful evening. We are delighted to have raised so much money while having so much fun. Well done ladies and thank you all.”
