A charity golf day is being held at Christchurch Golf Club on Friday 7 August to raise money for Bournemouth Hospital Charity which will benefit patients who have had a stroke.
Event organiser and Christchurch Golf Club Captain, Ian Ebdon, had a stroke in December 2013 and wanted to raise money for the Stroke Unit at The Royal Bournemouth Hospital. Both Ian’s father and father-in-law sadly died following strokes.
Ian said, “My father-in-law was treated in the unit at and his last days were in a separate room allowing us to spend more time with him. All the staff were very efficient, helpful and informative and we were very happy with the care that was provided.
“We’re hoping that the golf day will raise lots of money and benefit others going through an extremely tough time.”
Fifteen teams have already signed up to the event and players who would like to take part are being advised to sign up quickly to make sure they don’t miss out. A ‘nearest to the pin’ and ‘beat the pro’ competition will also be running on the day. The cost to enter an ‘away’ team consisting of non-Christchurch Golf Club members is £120 per team and the cost for members is £80 per team.
Andrea Piedot, Fundraising Officer for Bournemouth Hospital Charity, said, “The golf day is a great opportunity for golfers to take to the course and raise some money for our fantastic Stroke Unit.
“We wish Ian every success and hope everyone who attends has a fantastic time.”
Bournemouth Hospital Charity aims to raise £2m each year to support the patient experience above and beyond what the NHS provides. Donations to the charity provide the funding for much-needed equipment and resources.
