Around 300 people took to Bournemouth seafront on Friday evening to help raise funds for medical equipment that will change the lives of hundreds of women at Bournemouth Hospital Charity’s Twilight Walk for Women.
Patients, their families and staff joined together to raise money for Botox treatment that will benefit ladies with an overactive bladder and Myosure equipment that will benefit women undergoing investigations into post-menopausal bleeding, which can be an early sign of cancer of the womb are top of the wish list.
Barry Wilson, Events Officer for Bournemouth Hospital Charity, said: “Friday night marked the sixth Twilight Walk and the atmosphere on the evening was electric. Many of the walkers who took part have benefited directly or know someone who has been treated in the Women’s Health Unit and so for some, the night was quite emotional.
“The deadline for submitting sponsorship is 24 June so we won’t know how much has been raised until then but we’re really hoping that we can help with the women’s health equipment wish list.
“Thank you to everyone who took part, those who volunteered on the night, Beales and Kelly’s Kitchen who supported the event and helped make it a success.”
