A man from Bournemouth has been sent to prison for a total of five years and four months for possession with intent to supply class A and class B drugs with a street value of over £300,000.
Adam Roberts, 32, pleaded guilty to the offences at Bournemouth Crown Court on Monday 10 February 2014 and was sentenced on Thursday 6 March 2014 at Dorchester Crown Court. He was handed down five years and four months’ imprisonment for possession with intent to supply class A drugs and one year and eight months’ in prison for possession with intent to supply class B drugs – both to be served at the same time.
The court heard evidence that on Friday 30 November 2012 police attended Roberts’ home address to make an arrest for an unrelated matter. An extensive search of the property was carried out during which a large quantity of heroin, amphetamines and cannabis was discovered. Roberts was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply.
Detective Constable Roy Waters, of Bournemouth CID, said: “As a result of this investigation a large amount of drugs were taken off the streets of Dorset and a drug dealer has been jailed.
“His sentence serves as a reminder as to how seriously such offending is treated by the courts.
“Dorset Police remains committed to reducing drug crime and will continue to pursue offenders and bring them to justice.”
