Having recently joined The Grove Hotel as deputy manager, Phillipa Baker has already shown her enthusiasm and support for the hotel and its services. Phillipa braved a sponsored charity tandem skydive on 14 May at Old Sarum in Salisbury, raising the huge sum of £1105 on behalf of the non-profit hotel.
The Grove Hotel in Bournemouth provides an attractive holiday environment for people with cancer, as well as their friends, carers, and family. Run by the local charity Macmillan Caring Locally, the money that Phillipa has raised at the ‘Jump for Love’ fundraising event will go directly to the hotel, helping to support its award-winning services and facilities.
In previous roles, Phillipa has worked at Bournemouth’s largest fish and chip restaurant as deputy manager. She also has experience working at a number of professional hotels, managing conferences, and banquets, ensuring excellent service, food, and beverages. Since taking on her new role at The Grove she has been providing IT support for guests, managing the staff, and working with the chefs to ensure suitable food is available. She has also assisted with the general maintenance of the hotel, and shown a passion for getting things done.
Phillipa Baker has said: “I would like to thank everyone for the overwhelming support that I received for my charity sky-dive. It has been a great opportunity to raise money and awareness for the hotel and its excellent facilities.”
Brenden Howard, manager at The Grove Hotel, has said: “Phillipa has been a welcomed addition to the team. As deputy manager, she has ensured that all our guests, their families and carers, receive both quality service and a relaxing holiday. We were so proud to see her jump for Macmillan Caring Locally, raising significant funds on our behalf for the charity which owns and operates our unique hotel.’’
