A new piece of equipment has been added to the funding wish list for Bournemouth Hospital Charity’s March for Men.
The intra-operative BK ultrasound machine will benefit patients with urological cancer and costs £20,000.
The ultrasound joins the Olympus image management hub on the March for Men 2016 medical equipment wish list.
Kevin Turner, Consultant Urological Surgeon, said: “Over 540 men were diagnosed with prostate cancer at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital last year and the items on the wish list will be truly valuable resources to have.
“Nearly everyone knows someone affected by prostate cancer and I want to encourage as many people as possible to sign up to March for Men and help us buy this lifesaving equipment.”
March for Men encourages men, women and children to walk, run or march 1km, 5km, or 10km, along Bournemouth Seafront and Lower Gardens. Hundreds of people took part in 2015 helping to fund the template biopsy machine which has benefited over 100 men with prostate cancer since it was bought last year.
