Lord Professor Robert Winston, Professor of Science and Society and Emeritus Professor of Fertility Studies at Imperial College, London is to visit Poole Grammar School on Thursday 28 January.
His visits forms part of the school’s ongoing programme of extra and ‘super-curricular’ events and opportunities designed to enhance and raise the aspirations of its pupils in making choices for the future. Pupils always appreciate hearing directly from people about their journey through life, and how they have ended up being ‘eminent’.
Around 150 sixth form scientists and GCSE students, including some from Parkstone Grammar, will be given a talk on ‘The Beginnings of Life’ and it is hoped that Professor Winston’s achievements across an extraordinary range of fields, both scientific and artistic, will inspire them.
Lord Winston is appearing at Poole Lighthouse in the evening talking about ‘Where does genetics stop?’
