Main route from Bournemouth to Poole to be resurfaced
The works will be taking place from 7pm to 6am for the next four weeks from Poole Civic Centre to Ashley Cross.
Motorists travelling from Bournemouth to Poole during the evenings and overnight can expect delays starting from today 28 March until 23 April as the A35 Commercial Road is to be resurfaced.
The works will take place from Poole Civic Centre gyratory, up to and including the Church Road traffic light junction at Ashley Cross.
The road closures between 7pm and 6am include 28 March to 1 April (4 nights); 4 April to 7 April (3 nights); 11 April to 14 April (3 nights) and 19 April to 23 April (4 nights).
Cllr Mike Greene, BCP Council’s portfolio holder for Transport and Sustainability, comments: “It’s clear this section of road is reaching the end of its serviceable lifespan and we need to take steps to make this much-used and major route safe for the future. The resurfacing will prevent damage to vehicles, make journeys smoother and improve the overall appearance of the road for the benefit of residents, businesses and visitors.
“Due to the importance of this route, and to minimise the impact on local businesses, we will be working at night and avoiding weekends for the main works.”
Drivers are advised to allow extra time for journeys during this time, follow the in-place diversions and use alternative routes.
