Man dies following road traffic collision in West Moors
Police are seeking witnesses to the fatal collision in West Moors on the morning of Friday 13 December.
A man in his 80s has died after sustaining serious injuries in a road traffic collision in West Moors on the morning of Friday 13 December.
The pedestrian was in Station Road, close to the junction with Glenwood Road, when he was involved in a collision with a black Nissan X-Trail. Sadly, the pedestrian died after sustaining serious injuries. His family has been informed.
Dorset Police received a report of the collision at 7.42am and emergency services attended. Road closures were put in place.
Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward following the fatal collision.
Sergeant Mike Gatfield, of the traffic unit, said: “First and foremost, our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the man who very sadly died as a result of this collision.
“We are continuing to carry out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of what happened, and I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please make contact with us.
“I would also ask any motorists with dashcam who were travelling in the area to please review their footage for anything of relevance.
“Finally, I appreciate this collision has resulted in road closures and I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding.
“Road closures are necessary to allow first responders to deal with the incident and for a detailed examination of the scene to be conducted.”
