Mayor learns first aid with Poole Sea Cadets
Cllr Jo Clements, the Mayor of Poole visited Poole Sea Cadets where she was able to practise the Heimlich first aid technique.
Cllr Jo Clements, the Mayor of Poole, recently acquired some new first aid skills when she visited Poole Sea Cadets.
Being the good sport that she is, she was invited to learn and then successfully practise the Heimlich first aid technique, which may be performed on a person who is choking.
In stepped volunteer OC William who was wearing a red Anti Choking Trainer. The intention is for the first aider to make use of the Heimlich technique to make a foam plug shoot into the air. This makes the instruction realistic and leaves the student confident. The mayor performed very well.
First Aid is one of the many lifelong skills taught to Poole Sea Cadets.
The mayor said: “I had a very interesting and fun evening at Poole Sea Cadets Parade Evening I took part in some of their activities and listened in on the training. As Patron of Poole Sea Cadets, I am immensely proud and honoured to have been involved in their activities and look forward to visiting again.”
