Opening to the public tomorrow (Thursday, 25 August), The Great Dorset Steam Fair has expanded its music festival offering for 2016 with extended hours and a whole collection of new acts.
As well as steam engines, heavy horses, arena events, stunt displays, craft tent, shopping area, WW1 centenary commemoration display and giant fairground, there are six concert stages with music running until midnight on Thursday and Friday, and until 12.30am on Saturday and Sunday.
The Outdoor Concert Stage, which has capacity for 3,000 people, remains free for steam fair visitors and offers a full line-up of live music all day on Saturday and Sunday.
There will be mix of original bands like The Darker My Horizon, Dutch Criminal Record and The Critics. Lionstar is also returning for ‘Ska Sunday,’ supporting top Ska tributes Special Brew and Mainly Madness.
Also included in the line-up for the Outdoor Concert Stage are The Wurzels with support from King Rocker, tribute acts Stereotonics, Oasis, Kings of Lyon and Coldplace, blues rock legends The Maz Mitrenko Band, Lost The Plot and the much loved Skimmity Hitchers.
Some of the new acts for 2016 include The Charlie Farran Band, Howlin Mat, Sons of Clogger and Pistol Pete, Sixteen String Jack, The Merryhill Billys, Ruby and the Roughcuts and Cajun Dawgs.
Plus there will be all the regular favourites and on the Real Ale Stage, Dr Busker and his orchestra will be playing for two-and-a-half hours on Thursday and Friday, and for three hours on Saturday.
