Wimborne Musical Theatre will begin rehearsals for its next production The King and I on Thursday 22 January and are looking for local talented people to join the cast. The show has a number of different roles in a variety of ages; also several parts for children.
Rodgers and Hammerstein’s 1956 musical is set in 19th-century Thailand and depicts an Englishwoman being hired to serve as a tutor to the King’s children. Both stuck in their separate cultural ways, the two eventually learn to understand, respect and love each other. The King and I’s score contains the most enduring numbers; “Getting to Know You,” “Something Wonderful,” “Hello, Young Lovers” and “Shall We Dance,” are just some of the royally appealing tunes.
The show itself will be taking place from 17–20 June.
