Five new commissioners are being sought to sit on the board of the Trust Port of Poole Harbour Commissioners (PHC).
PHC are the operators of Poole’s commercial port and guardians of the 10,000 acres that make up Europe’s largest natural harbour. The new commissioner positions are equivalent to a non-executive director’s position. The opportunity is open to any individual with an understanding of local issues and has particular skills in engineering, commercial, finance or marketing.
Commissioners coming to the end of their terms include business leader Angela Piromelli. She recommended the role, and said: “Being a commissioner has been one of the most rewarding and enjoyable roles I have had in my career to date.
“PHC has a diverse, forward thinking and highly commercial board, with 11 other members all from a variety of different backgrounds, working together to ensure the success of the Port and its stakeholders. It is a highly collaborative board, with a family feel, is inclusive and the variety of projects and topics is extremely interesting and challenging.
“I am so thankful for having been a part of the team for the last six years and couldn’t encourage interested candidates to apply, more. You will be valued, invested in, challenged and be a part of making a difference to such an important and iconic landmark, that is the diamond in Dorset’s crown.”
Chief executive of PHC, Jim Stewart, commented: “We are looking for commissioners who can bring a set of skills and expertise which will strengthen the existing board. PHC is at an exciting stage, and it is important that we have a strong and balanced board to ensure that the organisation can meet future challenges.
“We want to continue to develop the diversity of the board. It’s imperative that as guardians of the amazing asset that is Poole Harbour we are representative of our wider community and are influenced by a contemporary approach in all decisions. We welcome applicants from anyone who may have the skills relevant to a non-executive director position.”
If you are interested in being considered for these appointments, please email Natasha Gama: natashagama@phc.co.uk or download an application pack at phc.co.uk.
Closing date for applications is 27 August 2021. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed in early September 2021.
