Thanks to the help of fund-raising and donations, Hope Housing, Training and Support Ltd (Hope) has successfully equipped a new gym at the charity’s headquarters in St Swithuns Road South, Bournemouth.
The gym is being used for the benefit of 47 vulnerable residents who are helped by the charity to improve their health and self-esteem.
Roger Harrington, Managing Director of Sembcorp Bournemouth Water (SBW), who’s company donated £250 towards the new gym, described the project as a “very worthwhile” scheme.
He said, “Hope play an extremely important role in helping people to get onto the road to recovery from a range of problems in their life.
“Physical fitness is a key part of well-being and we are very happy to help in a small way in assisting the people helped by Hope to have a better life.”
Hope offers supported housing for single homeless individuals aged between 18 to 65 years who may have previously been affected by addiction, unemployment or a family breakdown. It aims to provide them with the skills to allow them to live independently.
Julie Berti, Charity Manager said, “A gym is a fantastic way to get people together and involved. It’s also something all our residents can use.
“We’re very grateful to Sembcorp Bournemouth Water and the many other companies and organisations who’ve helped us get the gym into action.”
