The long awaited third phase of Cherry Tree Nursery’s new building programme is to go ahead, with work starting on Monday 14 April.
The first and second phases, the areas for the volunteers – tearoom, kitchen and toilets, followed by rooms to work, learn and recover in – are now complete, and it is time to replace the rotting, crumbling, damp cold and leaking office buildings.
These are the centre of everything at the project, where 170 adults with severe and enduring mental illness come for a long as they wish and need to participate in all the work of the nursery and become part of a supportive community.
Volunteers sign the final agreement with Rob Buckley, director of the Dorset Centre for Rural Skills.
