Two men have been sentenced to a combined 22 and a half years in prison after more than £110,000 worth of drugs were found at a property in Bournemouth.27-year-old Kyle Joseph Smith and 29-year-old Stuart McGill, both from Bournemouth, were arrested on Monday 21 May 2012 following a search of their house by police. Officers recovered around 3,500 tablets similar to ecstasy, 13 kilograms of amphetamine and 120 bars of cannabis. Both men were charged with drug offences on 4 February 2013.
On 24 June, Smith pleaded guilty to two counts of supplying a controlled Class A drug at Bournemouth Crown Court.
McGill pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing cannabis with intent to supply, two counts of possessing amphetamine with intent to supply, and one count of supplying a class A drug at Bournemouth Crown Court on the same day.
On 22 November, Smith was sentenced to 10 years in prison, and McGill was jailed for a 12-and-a-half year term at Bournemouth Crown Court.
Detective Constable Mark Portelli, of Bournemouth CID, said: “This has been a fantastic effort by all of those involved in this case at Dorset Police, and we are delighted with the sentences handed down.
“Both Smith and McGill were in possession of a substantial amount of drugs with a street value of more than £110,000.
“By catching offenders such as these, we have prevented these drugs being sold on the streets.
“The prison terms given to both Smith and McGill send out a clear message that we are continuing in our bid to clamp down on illegal drug possession and supply and it will not be tolerated by the Force and courts.
“We hope that these sentences will help make residents in the area feel safer.”
