Former Ballard School student and Paralympic champion swimmer Mikey Jones returned to the school to talk to children and staff.
In a question and answer session whilst watching a rerun of his gold medal race, he talked about his experiences and how he had to endure setbacks before achieving success. Mikey’s advice to those at Ballard School who dream of success was “go and live your dream.” His forthcoming schedule includes being a part of both the London and Manchester Olympic parades and also a visit to Buckingham Palace where, hopefully, he will meet the Queen.
Alastair Reid, Headmaster of Ballard School, said: “It was delightful to welcome back Mikey to the school. He deserves enormous credit for the perseverance he has shown to overcome many obstacles and I am in admiration for the way he conducted himself during and after the competition. We were very excited to watch his races and I am looking forward to his further competitive exploits.”
