After entering the Rotary Club’s nationwide competition to write a poem to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday, eight youngsters from Parley First School in Ferndown took centre stage at the Street Party on the Rec at the West Parley Recreation Ground. All eight read their poems to a packed house in the memorial hall.
Parley Rotary joined forces with West Parley Parish Council to host the party which included free tea and cake plus a slice of a special cake overlaid with a picture of the Queen.
Shane Dart, president of Parley Rotary said, “Despite the threatening weather, the event was a great success. It attracted more than 500 local people. We are already looking at plans for a bigger better event next year.”
