Pensioner completes eBike challenge
Tony Dobbs, who is 73 years old and from Weymouth, has completed the John o'Groats to Land's End challenge solo unaided on an eBike.
Tony, who is no longer able to walk well, completed the challenge in just under a month and raised more than £1,500 along the way.
To make it even more special, Tony was unsupported in completing his challenge, staying in hotels along the way and carrying what he needed for the trip in his bike’s panniers.
As Tony’s mobility is reduced, cycling gives him opportunities he would not have otherwise. The money he has raised will be donated to Sustrans, which is aiming to mobilise more individuals across the UK through their cycling-related infrastructure.
Tony said: “Now I feel very pleased to have completed the journey from one corner of my island to another by powered eBike and privileged to have been able to do so. I hope others my age feel inspired to take such a journey.”
