Performers needed for riverside production in Wimborne
Wimborne Community Theatre is to stage a river production beside the River Stour in July and performers are needed.
This is an opportunity for musicians, singers and young actors – but hurry, as applications for the latter need to be in by 31 March.
Wimborne Community Theatre (WCT) is to stage a river production on land owned by Sir William Hanham near Julian’s Bridge.
Sir William said: “I am so excited that WCT will continue exploring the theme of ‘the river runs through us’, with a new production planned on the Stour at Deans Court this summer. This helps raise awareness of the value of our rivers for the community and for the wildlife that inhabits them. With both the Allen and the Stour running through the Deans Court Estate, we are starting to regenerate the land to bring it back into balance with nature, and we hope to engage with schools and community organisations to participate in this endeavour. This summer’s riverside theatrical production couldn’t be a better way to start.”
WCT is seeking an experienced male or female actor, aged 17-27 years, to play a key role in WCT’s site-specific production in Wimborne, in July, an original performance about and along the River Stour. Two siblings are sent on an epic quest to find out what is the essence of the River – they must overcome a series of challenges to succeed.
Interested actors please contact WCT artistic director, Tony Horitz, for more information, by emailing: tony.horitz@icloud.com
WCT is also seeking musicians and singers. Composer and musical director, Karen Wimhurst, will be musical director for WCT’s production. She is looking for singers and instrumentalists (mainly those for a New Orleans marching band – sax/brass/drums) who might be interested in taking part.
With artistic director, Joe Hancock, from outdoor theatre company Burn the Curtain at the helm, this promises to be a spectacular and innovative piece of theatre to get involved with. You would need to be able to commit to a minimum of two performances.
