The patient art group at Lewis-Manning Hospice has been busy creating special pom-poms to decorate its marquee for the ‘Celebrating Women Luncheon’, which is being held there on 11 October 2013 during Breast Cancer Awareness month.
As part of its commitment to health and wellbeing, the Poole charity, which offers free specialist palliative nursing care to hundreds of local people living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, has organised the special fundraising lunch to launch a new and exciting project offering confidence building affirmations to women and girls.
Rachel Lapworth, Director of Development at Lewis-Manning, said, “The project is by women and for women and it aims, in some small way to empower, women and girls to make positive, life enhancing choices, no matter what stage of life they have reached and whatever their circumstances. We believe that women have unique gifts to offer the world and we want them to have the confidence to share those gifts.”
Special guest speakers at the lunch will include actress, campaigner, film maker and inspirational speaker, Amanda Waring, and local TV actress and celebrity Debra Stephenson, star of Bad Girls, Coronation Street and The Impressions Show. There will also be an introduction from Lewis-Manning CEO, Elizabeth Purcell, and a talk from one of the current patients at the hospice.
The lunch will take place from 12 noon in the dressed marquee in the grounds of the hospice, which overlooks Poole Harbour, and includes arrival drinks, 4 course lunch and 1/2 bottle of wine per person, raffle, auction and more. £45 per person, £400 table of 10. Call 01202 701000 to book.
