Activities for this Sunday’s birthday celebrations on 12 June for Her Majesty the Queen have just stepped up a notch in Ringwood as two well-known celebrities will be on site during the event in the town’s Market Square.
Providing some entertainment for the crowds will be Theo McKenzie-Hayton who dances with famous dance group Diversity and lives locally in Verwood. Theo will be moving around the seated guests and showing off some of his moves during the two-hour event and talking to young people about his experiences.
The other celebrity is the American presenter for The House Doctor series, which is being re-launched by film company Boundless TV and will feature a Ringwood house in the new series. While no other details are available at this time the Mayor of Ringwood Councillor Michael Thierry has been asked to provide a short 10-minute chat with the presenter during the event.
The event, which has been organised by Mandy Oldfield and other staff at the town council will include fair rides, displays by the National Park and Freemasons along with food stalls, live music and street entertainers. Churches together are providing free squash and drinks along with 2,000 cup cakes. Mandy said, “ We are still struggling with finding enough chairs at the moment but I am confident that if the weather is kind to us it will be a fantastic event”.
There will be a top table of guests on the day who will be hosted by the Mayor, all of whom are celebrating their 90th birthday this year. They will each receive a certificate for the event and there are small commemorative programmes that will be distributed to everyone.
