Richie's press up challenge in Ferndown raises over £6,000
Six people raised £6000 for JTYAF charity by performing 30,000 press ups over the course of 10 hours in Sainsbury’s, Ferndown.
The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF) has congratulated Royal Marine Richie, Amber, Adam, James, Shaun and Tom for their incredible achievement in completing 30,000 press ups at Sainsbury’s Ferndown in 10 hours. Together with 55 JTYAF volunteers, their challenge raised an incredible £3,600 in donations from shoppers over the Bank Holiday weekend.
This challenge required a huge amount of time and commitment to ensure success Richie got his team together and ran the whole event.
The Foundation say thanks must also go to Overhang, My Protein and Letter X, who sponsored the challenge and to Sainsbury’s Ferndown for hosting the events well as to their customers. Those who supported Richie’s Team on line raised another £2,852.
Karen and Paul were winners of the One Minute Press Up Challenge and received amongst their prizes, three months free at Richie’s Fit Camp, a meal for two at the Angel Inn and a Ringwood Brewery Tour.
In total Richie and his team raised £6,452 which the charity say is an incredible achievement and will make a massive difference to local young people in the year ahead.
This is not the first challenge that Richie has organised to support John’s Foundation. With rowathons, 46-mile runs, marathons, pram races and 350-mile cycles, he has now raised £19,000 for the charity. All the funds raised will help young people to discover their potential, develop their talents and inspire them to ‘climb as high as they can dream’.
On Monday 12 June at 5pm, charity representatives will be at Moors Valley for the launch of their charity of the year partnership with Go Ape? Two of their staff are past award-winners and the charity ended up as their favourite. One of them is the Anya Kay, the British Bobsleigher, and who is apparently going for selection for Team GB again soon.
