Roly Frost, pub landlord
Roly Frost, landlord of the London Tavern, Ringwood, suffered a stroke 15 months ago, which almost took his life. Thanks to the care of the emergency services and the staff in the Stroke Unit at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, he is now back behind the bar.
As a way of saying “thank you” to the team at the Stroke Unit who saved his life, Roly has organised a day and night of fundraising at the Linford Road pub on 30 April. A golf day will run from 1pm and has some quite unbelievable hole-in-one prizes including a set of golf clubs, two holidays – one in Portugal, and the main prize of £15,000 in cash! The whole golf day is being sponsored by Marston’s Brewery.
The golf day will be followed by a superb evening of entertainment by On the Nash, a band made up of doctors, nurses and staff from the Royal Bournemouth Hospital who are playing for free, with Roly making a donation to the Stroke Unit. There will be also be various fundraising events in the evening including raffles to help raise as much money as possible.
Speaking about the team who helped save his life, Roly says, “I will always be very grateful to everyone who has enabled me to make such a complete recovery, and if we can raise some funds for the unit we are more than happy to do so.”
Debbie Anderson, head of fundraising at Bournemouth Hospital Charity says, “The fundraising day and night events sound absolutely fantastic and the prizes Roly has secured are unbelievable.
“We’re really pleased that Roly wants to give back and help other patients who have gone through what he has and the money raised at these events will go to the Stroke Unit.”
