Last week, Annette Brooke, MP for Mid Dorset and North Poole met Broadstone Scouts at a unique event inside the Houses of Parliament to celebrate the success of Scout Community Week, which took place in May last year.
They were joined by other Scouts from across the UK.
Annette said, “I was delighted to meet Broadstone Scouts in Parliament to show them around and to say a big thank you for taking part in Scout Community Week last year.
There were some hugely inspiring projects and young people who attended and I look forward to seeing an even bigger and better Scout Community Week in June this year.”
Mark, a leader with Broadstone Scouts said, “Last year as a group we did quite a few things; our Beaver Scouts did some bag packing and our Cubs did tennis court cleaning and delivering some leaflets for our local community day. The Scouts did some cleaning up of the community centre garden and also a charity car wash.”
From 3–9 June 2013, hundreds of Scout groups will once again participate in a week of community action aimed at improving their local area, raising funds and highlighting Scouting’s need for more adult volunteers.
